Traditionally matte lipsticks tend to either be too shiny or too powdery that they’re likely to cake, crack and dry out my lips. And usually the good kind of matte are found under high-end brands which cost an arm and leg to purchase. Enter a new generation of affordable matte lipstick: Avon Perfectly Matte Lipstick.
Avon developed an ultimate fusion of pure matte ingredients from formulation to its finish on our lips. This lipstick looks a whole lot more matte than Avon’s previous matte lipstick line, and I gotta say, it’s quite impressive and not very expensive.
What I like about the Perfect Matte line is that it doesn’t really cake a lot when you try to retouch, and it’s a big improvement from its predecessor, which were more glossy than matte. Although I wish it would last longer, its longevity has also improved when compared to Avon’s other line of matte lipsticks.
It doesn’t stick with an awkward feeling like some matte lipsticks that pharmacy brands have to offer, and it doesn’t smell like chalk! Pigmentation is good, application is easy, one layer is enough. Some people would say it’s a bit pricey for 399 but you have to understand that there aren’t a lot of good matte at this price range. So I think the price isn’t all that bad.
When Perfectly Matte was initially released in the Philippines last May, there were nine shades. Mostly pinks, oranges and reds. And you may have guessed it right, my favorites are the two dark, brazen ones: Wild Cherry and Superb Wine.
Just last week, 3 more shades were released — these are Mauve Matters, Adoring Love and Hot Plum.
If you’re on Instagram and follow us there (oh please do), you’ve probably seen me wear Perfectly Matte in Wild Cherry a few months ago.
Try it out yourself and let us know what you think! It’s available from your Avon representative, or from avonshop.ph
