Managed to purchase a Silk Crème Oil-Free Photo Edition Foundation from Laura Mercier this summer, and it is so divine, it’s fast becoming my favorite foundation.
To start off, it is unfortunate this has the same name as an older foundation as it is completely different so there will be comparisons. This foundation leave a matte finish and can maintain a long lasting, smooth, oil-free finish. It promises 12-hour of wear, and it stays on pretty well, but oily areas will definitely begin seeing shine in a couple hours or less, even if powder is applied afterward. That’s not a deal-breaker, just don’t expect this to control oil for half the day.
It boasts to be full coverage however personally it’s just almost-full coverage. But it’s one of those full coverage foundations that doesn’t look too thick and that doesn’t dull down the skin’s natural glow, nor feel like paste on the face. It will still look like make-up, no sheer look to expect here.
This liquid foundation works best on acne-prone or oily skin and Laura Mercier has 12 shades available for this but the darkest they have here in the Philippines would be Sun Tan (or at least in Rustan’s Makati, there was no Pecan or Truffle shades).
It’s housed in a sexy black squeeze tube, so it’s pretty good for travel. I guess the only negative I can think of is that it doesn’t have sunscreen and it’s a bit pricey at 2,250 pesos.
- Lightweight & blends well
- Good pigmentation
- Smooth matte finish
- Long lasting
- No sunscreen
Having said all that, I’d recommend this to friends who don’t mind spending more for a foundation that works well this summer.
And this is me, 4 hours after trying out the foundation and a bit of powder retouch.
