New buys from NYX, Maybelline, and The Body Shop

I only wanted to check the NYX stall in SM Makati, but ended up buying and even two more items.

NYX Liquid Sude in Stone Fox, Maybelline Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice, and The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain in Dusty Rose 037
Left to right: NYX Liquid Suede in Stone Fox, Maybelline Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice, and The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain in Dusty Rose 037

Initial thoughts:
NYX Liquid Sude in Stone Fox: I’ve only used once so far. It felt comfortable on my lips, but I have yet to test this longer.
Maybelline Creamy Matte in Touch of Spice: This sold out quickly when it was first released here. I had to get one the instant I saw it at Maybelline’s, but this was actually disappointing. 🙁
The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain in Dusty Rose 037: I thought I had a dud because there was a build up of product on the applicator. 😐 It has a thick consistency unlike Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain.

First impressions: Maybelline FITme! Matte+Poreless Foundation

My oily skin issue is getting worse… And I blame the weather! I still like my CoverGirl foundation, but I thought I would switch for now with the Maybelline FitMe! Matte+Poreless Foundation.

My first impressions:

  • I thought it was a pump foundation, but it’s like the L’Oreal foundation I used. No biggie because there are times I prefer this over a pump.
  • Coverage is light to medium and buildable.
  • Yellow-toned, which is great for those with warm undertones. Though I think I fall under olive undertone, this is still good match for me.

Maybelline White Super Fresh

I find myself lucky because whenever I run out of any beauty stuff it’s mostly when there are promos. There was also the ‘beauty emergency’ I had and Maybelline was also on sale then. They seem to have a year-round sale. XD;

Some three months ago, my L’Oreal Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder has hit pan at last. It wasn’t working well for me anymore either. Even my foundation. My skin has become oilier, which is still a mystery to me but that would be another story. Anyway, I can’t be without powder really, so it was right timing when Maybelline had another sale. Although what I bought wasn’t really at promo price, but still preeeeeetty cheap. It’s the Maybelline White Super Fresh — Claimed as “the no touch up powder foundation” and promises a 12-hour fresh and matte face.

2016 Summer Giveaway

We have been writing about several products that we love for years now. This year we plan to feature more products but also reach out to our readers. We want to hear what you think about the products we’ve reviewed before, and what’s a better way to let you, my dear, experience the products other than to give them to you.

That’s right, we are giving away some stuff that you should try for summer! Some of these would look familiar as we have talked about them before, while there are also new ones too.

The almost forgotten lip swatches

Adding to my ‘Choice of Lippies for End of 2015‘ post are these lip swatches, which I honestly forgot. I was too excited! Anyway, on to the lip swatches:

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipstick in Bare It All (902C)

MAC Sin (Matte)

MAC Sin looks creamy in the photo, but it eventually loses that creamy finish.

NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick in Cruella

My lips were dry in the above photo, but it wasn’t because of the NARS lip pencil. I know I should have scrubbed before the lip swatch. If I did though, that means another day/s delay of this post. 😛

Choice lippies for end of 2015

I mentioned in my 2015 Best in Beauty that I would be reviewing the Laura Mercier Lip Paint in Vermillion Red separately. (I still love that lip gloss.) That’s queued for review and I thought I would post ahead my last quarter of 2015 choice of lippies. Even though there is no fall or winter in the Philippines, my choices were based on the shade choices for those seasons 😛

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipstick in Bare It All (902C)

I fell in love with this the moment I used it.

Since I have fair skin, I often skip nude lispticks because they’re usually too pale for me and would wash out my face. But I got curious with Wet n Wild’s MegaLast In the Flesh lipstick because it had rave reviews. The stall at The Landmark Makati didn’t have that shade though. I got Bare It All instead. I did like Bare It all the moment I swatched it. It is medium beige with no hint of pink, which is what I want in a nude lipstick.

Happy New Year! + Best of Beauty 2015

Late New Year’s greetings to you lovelies! 😀 Bringing you my first ‘Best of Beauty’ in 2015. I thought hard enough of what products I really liked last year. There’s hair and skin care faves besides makeup, surprisingly. I also found great beauty discoveries last year.

(Throw)Back to Basics (and an FOTD)

Welcome to the first Thursday of 2016! Happy new year everyone! Did you get all glam and fabulous when the ball dropped? Me? I was asleep before 12midnight. Does that mean I get to sleep a lot more this year? I hope so! My eyebags are a disaster lately. We’ll get back to that later.

As I said, it’s a Thursday. You know what that means? Throwback! It’s also the start of a new year so I try to tidy things up a bit. Get things BACK to the bare essentials.

If you know me, I’ve been lugging a big pouch of make-up for the past so and so years. Today, however, I’ve managed to reduce my daily make-up/kikay kit to this small black fishnet bag.

Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze and Creamy Beige

I love my two shades of Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo. They are the (25) Bad to the Bronze and (80) Creamy Beige. I find myself being able to do my eye makeup faster when I use them for the reason that probably I have more application control. I actually use my fingers. I tried using a brush and it was a big fail. I couldn’t get any color on my lids.

I only got to look closer at the covers of these today. The differences are, besides the obvious labels, the Bad to the Bronze shade has ‘Gel-Cream Eyeshadow’ written on it, while the other is ‘Leather by EYESTUDIO.’ Also, the former is made in China while the latter is in USA.
