Gotta Love Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme Foundation

Managed to purchase a Silk Cr猫me Oil-Free Photo Edition Foundation from Laura Mercier this summer, and it is so divine, it’s聽fast becoming my favorite foundation.

To start off, it is unfortunate this has the same name as an older foundation as it is completely different so there will be comparisons. This foundation leave a matte finish and can maintain a long lasting, smooth, oil-free finish. It promises 12-hour of wear, and it stays on pretty well, but oily areas will definitely begin seeing shine in a couple hours or less, even if powder is applied afterward. That’s not a deal-breaker, just don’t expect this to control oil for half the day.

First impressions: Maybelline FITme! Matte+Poreless Foundation

My oily skin issue is getting worse… And I blame the weather! I still like my CoverGirl foundation, but I thought I would switch for now with the Maybelline FitMe! Matte+Poreless Foundation.

My first impressions:

  • I thought it was a pump foundation, but it’s like the L’Oreal foundation I used. No biggie because there are times I prefer this over a pump.
  • Coverage is light to medium and buildable.
  • Yellow-toned, which is great for those with warm undertones. Though I think I fall under olive undertone, this is still good match for me.

L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Sun Beige

I’m back home and in the blog! 馃榾 Juggling several blogs and the vacation was impossible, so I posted only one entry last month. ^^;;; Anyway, on to the post.

Ever since I bought the L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Sun Beige, I’ve been using it almost daily. I was able to test it through two summers and some rainy days. It never failed on either hot or rainy days. The wear lasts almost eight hours which is great for a work day. But I think the powder that I purchased with it also helps. I barely need to retouch. That’s one thing less from my cosmetic kit. 馃槈

Review: Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Mineral Loose Powder

I don’t normally use mineral makeup. I’ve tried Bare Escentuals after buying their starter kit and the mineral made my face feel leathery and dry. I’m not sure if it was an allergic reaction or the kabuki brush that comes with the kit is just too tough on my skin but I continued using the set for months until I found a better replacement.

Review: BRTC Glossy BB Cream

review

Bio Remedies Therapeutic Cosmetic (BRTC) is one of the more reputable cosmetic companies in Korea and based on online reviews, they have a lot of fans. Their BB cream line is very popular. I was able to try their “best” BB cream, the BRTC Recover Balm, and I was very impressed. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take photos to make a review post. To make up for that, here is my review of BRTC Glossy BB Cream based on a sample I bought ages ago but only got to try recently. Unfortunately, I think this particular BB cream has been discontinued. I don’t see it in http://www.skinami.co.kr/ nor http://www.brtcstore.com/.

Review: Hanskin Caviar Gold BB Cream

review

I tried Hanskin Caviar Gold BB Cream for a couple of weeks and finally surrendered that it’s not suited for my skin. It makes my face very pale and dries my skin because of its thick consistency. This product is more suited for those with oily skin and very fair complexion, probably caucasian skin.

The Hanskin Caviar Gold BB Cream has SPF 21, aloe, caviar and vitamin B. It has whitening and wrinkle-prevention ingredients as well.

Review: BeneFit’s Dr. Feelgood

review

I’m a fan of BeneFit Cosmetics and one of my favorite products by them is Dr. Feelgood. I have big open pores and applying foundation is a pain because of the build up in the pore. Ewwww. Dr. Feelgood is a good solution for my problem skin. It is a balm which fills in lines and open pores. It has vitamin C and mattifies the skin. I don’t really care about the last 2, I just want less noticeable pores. If you know a similar product, please let me know!

Tony Moly Expert Triple BB Cream

I’m pretty much a BB cream newbie. I’ve only tried Etude House Magic BB Cream (I should do a review on this one since I use it regularly) and I find it pretty good although lacking in coverage. This review is not about that particular BB cream. It’s about the sample BB cream I won from Lizz Buenaventura.

For those not in the know, BB creams aka blemish balms are the latest craze in Asia. They are multi-functional skincare products which can moisturize, soothe, heal, cover and protect the face. Some BB creams offer sun protection and whitening properties too. It is used like a moisturizer but sometimes I just use it as base and then apply foundation over it.
