I have to thank my Aunt for getting this as an extra to my request of a Clinique Facial Soap for my birthday last year. 😀
I usually go to the office with just natural eye makeup. Then I add a bit of color through either the blush and/or lipstick/lip gloss/lip balm. Since I received the Chunky Cherry, this has become my almost everyday lip balm as it brings more life to my ‘natural’ look.
This Chubby Stick applies on smoothly and evenly. It has a slight luster finish that’s gone after a while and you just get natural-looking red lips. Rather, a red lip stain. This lasts four hours on me with moderate talking and food or drink consumption. When I use this for office, I only need to reapply twice for the whole nine hours — After lunch and before I step out of the office.
The first time I used this, my lips became flaky. I had to carefully remove the dry skin because the balm accentuates it. Well, that’s pretty normal to happen to me when I put something new on my lips. There’s just very few that I faintly remember not experiencing dry lips with on initial use. Anyway, my lips has gotten used to it after a couple of use.
I wish it stayed sharpened like that. Though I quickly figured how to apply with the big stick, it was still an effort being that my lips are thin.
The lip balm is, as you see, as red as a cherry in the tube but sheer when applied. The color can be buildable.
What I like most with this lip balm is that it leaves a stain which lessens the need to reapply too often considering this is a lip balm. Hm, it does moisturize, but not as effective as Clinique’s Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss is for me. I also like that it doesn’t look like your typical lip balm. This still gets attention when I apply while on public transportation. 🙂
I should have listened to the specialists in the local Clinique counters when they told me to try the Chubby Sticks. This is way better than my (Spicy Honey) Almost Lipstick imo and cheaper. I believe Chubby Sticks are PhP950 a pop. Are they cheaper now? The Chubby Sticks Intense are only PhP920, right? Oh, mentioning that, I can now review a couple of those I purchased during my trip. 😀
There are 15 shades of Chubby Sticks. There’s definitely a color that would suit anyone’s liking… And/Or skin color. 😛 Clinique counters are available in Rustan’s (Glorietta, Power Plant, and Shangri-La are those I’ve seen with their counters so far).
