Holiday 2018: NARS Hot Tryst Cheek Palette

The NARS holiday collection this year is just right up my alley with its punk-style packaging design. Some items are sets of those from permanent items, but some are limited to this collection like the Powermatte Lip Luster, Spiked Audacious Lipsticks, Provocateur and Scandal Eyeshadow Palettes, and–the highlight of this post–the Hot Tryst Cheek Palette.

The NARS Hot Tryst Cheek Palette comes with four blushes and two “second-skin effect” highlighting powders.

  • Kings Road is an opalescent pink
  • Swindle is pale pink with shimmers
  • Untamed is magenta with shimmers
  • Friction is taupe with shimmers
  • Bowery is coral with shimmers
  • Adrenaline is a raspberry shade with gold shimmers

Below are two pictures of swatches in different angles. I couldn’t decide which is better and possibly more helpful for you, the reader, so I just put up both.

The blushes in this palette are everything I want in a blush–shimmery but not glittery and sheer but buildable. The shimmery blushes almost naturally-glowing blushing cheeks. NARS blushes are usually pigmented, but these are sheer but can be built up.

I do a faded blush effect with this palette. I go first with either Swindle or Bowery all over my cheeks up to my temples then apply either Untamed or Adrenaline just on the apples of the cheeks. There might be a term for this, but Idk. LOL! Anyway, that’s usually how I use the blushes. I usually pair Swindle-Untamed and Bowery-Adrenaline.

Rarely do I use the highlight shades, but when I do, I use Friction most often on top of just (not the faded blush effect) either Untamed or Adrenaline.

On the skin, they don’t look powdery and patchy even if I layer. None of the shades accentuate pores or blemishes too.

The powders have a bit of kickback, which doesn’t happen with my Unfiltered I palette. But I have single and duo blush pans that have kickback too, so kickback in the Hot Tryst palette is unsurprising and no trouble for me. I just thought I had to mention about this for those who want this palette and find kickback a bit of an issue.

This palette is lighter than my Unfiltered I, so this as one of my options for my travel makeup kit. 🙂

If you are a fan of blushes, this is one you should check. Do not let the shimmers turn you off. Some shimmery blushes might look too much when swatched on hand, but they can be quite beautiful on the cheeks. 🙂 Also, this is such a good deal like with other NARS blush palettes. If I recall correctly, this 6-shade palette is only Php3500.
