Review: Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation

The Dior Forever Skin Glow is a new range of foundation under the Forever line, which was released early this year. It is actually a reformulation of (my holy grail) Diorskin Forever foundation. But other than a velvet matte finish foundation, they also released a radiant finish variant.

My shade is 2W

Description and ingredients

The new Dior Forever foundation comes in a glass bottle with pump. I like its new bottle design because it’s not bulky and easy to store and even pack for travel. It contains 30ml of product and has SPF35 PA++.

From the website:

For 24 hours, complexion coverage remains flawless. The complexion is radiant and even. The skin appears plumped and its texture tightened. From morning to night, the perfect water-oil balance delivers a naturally vibrant, shine-free glow. The skin is protected from exterior aggressors and UVA and UVB rays with SPF 35 PA++ protection.

A hydration booster, pansy extract helps protect the skin from drying.* The skin is soothed and appears smoothed and radiant with beauty.

Protective rose hip extract, which has been the star ingredient of Dior Forever for years, helps protect the quality of skin from exterior aggressors and reduce the appearance of dilated pores. Application after application, the pores appear tightened and the skin’s texture refined.

Beautifying pigments adjust to the skin’s tone for a sensually enhanced complexion with an imperceptible makeup look and feel.

I was surprised on the instructions to reapply after every 2 hours.

Before I go on to my review, I should mention that I have oily, dehydrated skin. Also, just in case, here are the morning skincare items I use as of this initial review:

  • SU:M37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick
  • Dior Capture Totale Cellular Lotion
  • Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Creme
  • Melano CC
  • Advanced Clinicals Hyaluronic Serum
  • Make P:Rem Blue Ray Sun Gel
  • Guerlain Pore Minimizer

I didn’t like the foundation at first because its coverage was sheer and it faded in a few hours. I had to try again, of course, because the issue could either be the application method. Being that its predecessor Diorskin Forever works best when applied with fingers, I then tried that and noticed my foundation looked better. It still didn’t have the medium to full coverage that I wanted though. So I tried with another yet denser brush since the one I used the first time wasn’t very dense. With that, I finally got the finish I wanted. I have had the foundation on rotation since.

Dior Forever Skin Glow has medium to full coverage, feels lightweight, and has a naturally radiant finish that makes me look like I had enough sleep. I find that this is hydrating. Normally, my forehead will begin to appear tight or dry after some hours of wear, but I do not notice that when I use this.

It doesn’t make my skin oilier nor become cakey when I build up coverage. It also doesn’t transfer, which is really my issue in a foundation. I had an (unforgettable) experience of getting foundation marks/stains on office documents because I didn’t know the foundation transferred on my fingers. So annoying and humiliating!

Longevity is better now than in my first experience. Even after work hours, the foundation still looks okay and my face still looks hydrated. I don’t see patchiness and pilling throughout wear. However, when I use my Guerlain Meteorites Base, it gets patchy, especially on my cheeks.

Unlike the previous version, this does not darken nor oxidize on me.

I may be enjoying this Skin Glow foundation now but still too early to say if it tops Diorskin Forever foundation. I must test it first under extreme conditions, such as fieldwork on a really warm day.

Dior Forever Skin Glow retails for Php3700 (if I recall correctly). Dior shops are in SM Makati (almost my second home LOL!), Shangri-La Rustan’s, SM Aura, and SM Megamall.
